Work With Me

Fractional CMO

Marketing leadership while you figure out your permanent hire. Strategy, systems and team — built to outlast the engagement.

Some companies need marketing leadership before they are ready to hire it full-time. They have a product, a sales team and a gap in the middle where strategy should be.

If someone refers you to me for this, here is what the engagement looks like.

What I do

I come in at the strategy and leadership level. I do not execute. My job is to think clearly about where your marketing needs to go, set up the systems to get it there and make sure the people around me know what they are doing and why.

In practice, that means:

  • Auditing where you are — what exists, what works, what is costing you without returning anything
  • Building a touchpoint strategy aligned to how your customers actually move toward a purchase decision
  • Helping product and sales teams work from a consistent brand and messaging direction
  • Defining what collateral you need and helping you find the right resource to build it — an agency, a freelancer or someone you hire. I will not build it myself, and that boundary is part of the value: you get a brief that is tight enough to hand off without ambiguity
  • Helping you hire your marketing team, and training them on the systems and priorities from day one
  • Stepping back once the team is functional, with the option to stay on in a retained consulting role for continuity

How long this takes

There is no fixed timeline. How quickly a company moves through this depends on how flexible leadership is, how well-funded the function can be and how much alignment already exists between product, sales and the founders. I set goals at the start of the engagement, and we revisit them as the company evolves.

Some engagements are intensive and short. Others run longer because the company is still finding its footing. Either way, the goal is the same: build something that does not need me.

The goal is the same: build something that does not need me.

What I bring

I have spent time in marketing across technology companies at different stages and in different roles. At Tonbo Imaging, a defence electronics company, I managed marketing and communications across a technically complex product portfolio. Earlier, at Spiceworks, I ran SEO content, website work and pre-sales collateral for their education segment, including the US university market and Middle East expansion. At QuestionPro, I worked in a consulting capacity across research and communications.

What runs through all of it is the same problem: how do you communicate something technical or complex in a way that the right people understand and act on? That is the problem a fractional marketing leader has to solve before anything else.

This is a referred engagement

I do not pitch this service proactively. If you are here because someone pointed you here, or because you found the site and recognised the gap I described, the next step is a conversation.

Is this the right fit?

The fastest way to find out is usually a short conversation.
